Praise the LORD!!!
"Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me," (John 14:9; AV)
Yesterday, I was asked about one of the post I had made and what scripture references I could use to back it. The post: "A Thought for such a time as this:
A Christian should not settle with a level of production(for the LORD) that is the same as yesterday!!!"
At the time that I gave answer I was a bit distraught from having tried to monitor and post tornado warning to followers on this current system. As many of you know, well those that have followed the ministry for over a year or two would, this is part of the ministry's functions. Any way, back to the point of this blog :{))) My answer was in two parts, because another stepped in asking, but here are both parts:
"PTL!!! It is not GOD requires, wants or needs anything but our love, but as with any relationship lovers seek to provide the other with greater things from the heart as the relationship deepens. Would you give your wife/girlfriend a BMW one day and turn around and give them a gardening tool??? I think not. It may just be me, but as I grow closer to the LORD, I desire to do more for HIM, not because I have to, or because it will gain me one thing, but just because I love HIM !!!"
"PTL!!! I consider my relationship with GOD above all others and seek to deepen it in every way. As with any relationship, a knowledge of the other is great, but if that is where we leave off, what do we really have other than knowledge, we've no experience. Any thriving relationship must have experiences that deepen it, that bring the two parties closer together. I've had many relationship and most were very one sided, due to my pride, The LORD has blessed me by removing this hindrance and now I willing to seek a depth in our relationship deeper than any every before. HE gave HIS all for me, shouldn't I be willing to do the same in return, not being satisfied with the results of yesterday, but seeking to make today even better??? Scripturally, you'll not find this depth of relationship mentioned, to the best of my knowledge, but I'm sure it was in the hearts of many of those that have died for CHRIST while smiling at their tormentors and singing praises unto GOD!!! "
You can believe this was on my heart last night as I went to sleep and it was put to prayer. Now I can understand new believers in CHRIST having(needing) scripture "proof" to solidify their understandings, but supposedly seasoned, mature Christians!?! Have we been so long with JESUS, yet we fail to really know HIM??? To know those things we are to do. To know the manor in which we are to live our lives and reflect HIS image to others.
Now don't take me wrong here, I'm not judging these others involved here, but I'm being blessed to see the BODY as a whole here. We've lived our lives for years for CHRIST. We've supposedly read and read the Bible numerous times. Studied and studied for hours, taking in hour after hour worth of sermons and teaching tapes(disc) and books. "And yet hast thou not known me,"
______________________________
I ask, but not I, but the LORD, is your knowledge of me only within your mind, or is it within your heart??? Do you really have a loving relationship with me, or is it but a knowledge of scripture??? I want your heart, as well as your mind and body. I want all of you!!! Are you willing to give it???

Of Social media, judgment and gossip...
Praise the LORD!!!
There are times that things must just be brought out in the open and this is one of them(Ephesians 5:11). Over the past several months, there has been a great increase in Christians taking part in that which is far from a reflection of a CHRIST-likeness(Christian attitude and actions.) From the title you should be able to tell that this has been happening on possibly the greatest tools we have at our beckon, for spreading the GOSPEL. The internet and more specifically, the social media side of it. Also, this isn't aimed at any one person, for there have been many that have been constantly straying over these scriptural lines in the sand !!!
Now, if you've been following me for any length of time, you should of realized, I've a great span when it comes to my internet presence. I've accounts on a good number of social media site ( Facebook, My_space, Twitter etc.) I've seen a drastic increase in Christians doing that which Christians shouldn't be doing. Namely, the standing in judgment of others(Romans 2:1-11) and then relaying this information on to others with the third party being totally unaware of it(1 Tim. 5:13). Both of these are far from that which our LORD and SAVIOR would of done in these very same cases, very far from it !!! It pains me dearly to have to say this, especially when a good number of these offenders exhibit a well rounded knowledge of scripture and for the most part behave as we should. I feel like the author of the Book of Hebrews, as they wrote verses 5:12-14, and the recipients were unfit for the consumption of anything stronger than 'milk.'
JESUS came a died for all of mankind, not just Christians. HE didn't die for the righteous, but for sinners and yes, I do know that no one is righteous, not even one single solitary person(Romans 3:10-18). Judgment, we should consider as a double "ended" sword, which inflicts as much damage to the one using it, as it does the one it is used against. For when we judge another person, in any manor(status, looks, job or in any way)let us not forget Matt. 6:15), we place ourselves in a position as if we're better than they are(Romans 14, yes the whole of it:))) ). Hence sinning, and a multiple pronged sin, for this brings in the demon of pride and every christian should realize what JESUS thinks about pride-fulness !!! (This should be one of the first tenants of the faith we learn and understand !!! (milk.)
Use these verses, but don't stop with them, cross reference and seek out GOD from within HIS WORD!!!

Control and Worrys
Praise the LORD!!!
If you've been following my post online this AM, you'll know that I've the day off. With barely being able to meet my bills, this would seem to well up the emotions of worry and doubt. For me, I'm blessed not to have any degree of these. I've learned, through many a year of walking with the LORD, that there's truly no reason for them:)))
As I stated in an earlier comment, this dependence upon the LORD has really been cemented in my spirit since beginning my first trip to Texas. Though I've suffered: three broken toes, and continued with the trip; sat on the roadside for six and a half hours with a blown out knee, before finally getting assistance; returned to the starting point to recoup and then having my funding depleted completely; thrown out of the place I was living with only $40 in my pocket, to carry on with the trip; lived, along the roadside, abandoned buildings and attached in every means the adversary could throw at me, I've still faith in the LORD that HE shall meet all of my needs:)))(Phil. 4:19)
There was a time in my life, when I'd lie, cheat or steal in instances such as this, but that man is dead and buried long ago(thank YOU JESUS!!!) Now a days, I put the matter to prayer, sit and listen and then, do as led, or go on about my labors, knowing that the matter is in better hands then my own!!!(1 Peter 5:7)
Truly this isn't a practice that happens over night, but one that takes numerous years to be cemented into our hearts. One sure way that this is accomplished, is our suffering through many a trial and tribulation. One's, that completely tax us to our very cores. Breaking that bond of self sufficiency and allowing a totally new bond to be formed. One that has not the slightest doubt, that in no matter what happens, the LORD is fully in control of the events and will surely carry us through them and over them.(Romans 8:28) Since January 7, 1995, the day I was blessed to wholeheartedly give my life to the LORD, I've been blessed to of gone through so many events like this, that there is no way possible to mention them all in a blog, it'd be a book:))) Yet, truly, I most likely couldn't recall all of them, there has been that many:)))
The point is, if you've given your life wholeheartedly to JESUS, you've(supposedly) turned the reins of control over to HIM. Removing your hands from them and allowing HIM, to be the one that guides you through life and along that narrow pathway that leads to heaven. There are so many Christians today, that suffer daily, trying to control the direction in which their lives are going. That try to control all the means of their daily existence and do nothing but continually worry and fret over what will be next. Our tomorrows, if we're blessed with them, are completely in the LORD's hands. If we but relinquish our attempts to maneuver ourselves in the directions we think best, and allow the LORD to work HIS will within our lives, we'd find life so much more pleasurable. Those things we thought to be mountains, will turn into what they really are, but pebbles along the path. Those nooses, we've pulled so tightly around our necks, will appear as they truly are, the collars of our garments. So if you've given your life to JESUS, take your hands off the wheel and let JESUS truly be the driver!!! The trip will enjoyable, and a lot smoother:)))

5-30-10_Like unto JESUS (Part 2)_A repost
Praise the LORD!!!
Due to moving in several days, I've been busy tying up lose ends and packing. Thank GOD I don't have that much and actually I've less then I've ever had when making a move:-), but there are still many things to do to get ready to make the transition as quick as possible. This has to be done due to my new job, doing apartment turnovers for a local Realtor. An being the first of the months he's plenty of work for me to do. so I've got to move and work so others can move in as quick as possible. Should truly be an interesting next couple of weeks. I've faith to know that the LORD will carry me through this time, provide the needed money and items needed to make this transition as quick, effortless and trouble free as possible!!!
Acts 4:13
"When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with JESUS."
Yesterday we covered the ways to draw closer to JESUS and in our doing so obtaining HIS likeness. Today we will proceed to the evidences that reveal this likeness to those around us. For it is not just our resembling HIM that is beneficial to others, but that which we do "in" resembling HIM. For it does no one else any good if we keep JESUS all to our selves and it is not truly taking on HIS likeness if we do. JESUS was here to show us how GOD wanted us to live and act towards our fellow man. How to reveal GOD to others by the actions that we take and by the love that HE has for us. HE gave HIS all for humanity, right down to HIS death upon the cross for those HE didn't even know, many of which were not even been born yet!
You've received CHRIST as your personal LORD and SAVIOR (I pray you have), this is awesome and the beginning of a new life in CHRIST. But truly where do you go from here? The first part we spoke about yesterday, the drawing closer to HIM and beginning to take on HIS likeness. Here is where many stop within their Christian walks, never realizing that there is so much more to it then this. We are called to be HIS disciples and in so doing, follow HIS example and reveal it to the world through our lives. We must be willing to forsake all to follow CHRIST. Placing HIS will for us before all else, this means husband or wife, children, friends, work or relaxation. All must take a backseat to the LORD and HIS calling on us in life. An I do mean all, right down to our very own willingness to give our lives for another, even one we don't know!
Some of you may be saying, 'hold on now, someone I don't even know?'. Yes, this even including those that persecute you or do you harm. JESUS even prayed for those that had beaten HIM and were putting HIM to death!! We too need to take on this attribute, right down to the smallest of details. Loving our enemies, those that mistreat us or abuse us, right down to even those that may take our lives or the lives of a loved one. Can you imagine how it feels to JESUS when HE hears a Christian saying something derogatory about someone who's perpetrated some felonious crime. (Now I know I'm going to get people's attention with this!)Say a
mass murderer or child molester! You heard me right. Remember JESUS died for the sins of all of mankind, not just those that commit the small sins, but those of even the worst of mankind. Hitler, Daimler, Saddam Husein, you or me, in GOD's eyes, we are all the same, worthy of death unless we believe and accept JESUS' works upon the cross. This is not an easy task to undertake, especially when you've had others inflict great wounds upon your spirit, but it is a must if we're to resemble JESUS!!!
Another aspect that sets JESUS apart from others were HIS WORDS. Not only the fact that they were the very WORDS of GOD for mankind, but they were spoken in complete love. Even when HE over turned the tables of the money changers in the temple, though harsh, they were spoken in love. Only once do we hear of JESUS cursing something and that was an example set for us of how GOD will treat the un-fruitful within the Church. All the rest of the time HE spoke out of love, this even when rebuking the Pharisee and Sadducee on their hypocrisy and false religious practices. Now can we say this is true of all that comes out of our mouths? I seriously doubt it, for I know that there are times that I utter things I wish I'd never said and most likely you can say this also. Our tongues can get us in so much trouble and we must do our best to allow GOD to help us control them.
Another point of our resembling one who has walked with JESUS is that of our actions. The apostles were facing the Sanhedrin because of not just what they were speaking, but for the work of healing a cripple in the name of JESUS. How do the works of your hands reveal JESUS within you, to those around you? Or do they reveal works of another sort, works towards oneself or worse yet, to another master? I'm not saying that we all need to be going around laying hands on people and healing them in the name of JESUS, which would be nice, but that JESUS should be able to be seen through our every action. Like opening a door for someone else to walk through first. Or maybe picking up a large package for someone when you can see they're having a hard time with it. Or maybe grabbing something off a high shelf when you can see a person can't reach it. These kind of actions should permeate our existence. People should be able to see that there is love dwelling within us to the deepest of levels. Even in rush hour traffic this should shine forth like a beacon on a hilltop. There is no time within a Christians life that JESUS should not be the LIGHT that is shinning out. Every little detail of our lives needs to be a direct reflection of HIS dwelling inside. Not like a bad mirror, with it distorted reflection, but with that of a fine clean surface reflecting a true and perfect image. One where there can be no mistaking it, You are one that walks with JESUS!!!
Now, our revealing GOD to the world is a great responsibility and the very one that the Jews failed at. They are the chosen people of GOD and were supposed to reveal GOD's love for all of mankind to the world. Since they didn't fulfill this act within their history, GOD has grafted us into this position, giving us the task. We must do our best to show this within our lives. For remember, that which HE has grafted in, can also be removed in like manor! Do you want to be one that is removed from favor before GOD? Remember the parable of the sheep and the goats. There will be those that only think they've been reflecting JESUS within their lives, when in all rights, HE does not know them at all!!!
Other verses to reference: Matt. 16:24-26, 19:29, 25:34-46; Luke 4:18,19, 9:23-27; John 15:1-17; Rom. 11:17-31

03-27-10_Matt. 6:33_Seek ye first...(re post)
Praise the LORD!!!
"Due to computer problems today, this is a re post from an earlier date. Please pray that something will happen where these problems will be a thing of the past and I'll not need to re post because of computer problems again! May the LORD's will be done!!!
Matt. 6:33
"But seek first HIS KINGDOM and HIS righteousness,"
Herein lies the very foundations of our relationships with GOD after being born again. If you are to succeed in your walk for JESUS, you must realize that it all relies upon your keeping your eyes focused on HIS KINGDOM and HIS righteousness to maintain relationship with HIM! You must focus your total being on seeking after all that HE is, said/says and did/does. Now on this last part, I've both the past and present covered, for we must always remember what GOD has done as well as that which HE will do! Remembering that which HE did in the past gives us a greater reason to praise HIM and reinforces reasoning to continue asking HIM through prayer for present blessings.
Herein lies several of the major problems with a lot of Christians today. 1. They forget all that GOD has done for them and given to them within their lives. 2. Or remembering that which HE's done in the past, they tend to only think about getting their prayers answered and not on praising HIM for the past, present and the promises of the future. Two very grave problems, which we will take a good look at.
1. GOD has graced each and everyone of us so abundantly we can't even begin to total them up. Besides JESUS' redeeming death upon the cross for us, we owe HIM for every moment of life that we've had. For before conception HE knew us. He formed us and made us just as HE wanted us to be, whether or not you like the way you are or not, GOD had/has a purpose for creating you in such a manor. GOD's understanding is so far above ours that HE knew everything about each of us, before HE created the universe, right down to the smallest of details and all the way to our very passing from this earth. It is hard to even begin to understand all of what GOD knows or really any of HIS attributes, except for in general terms.
Now lets add to this all the miracles GOD has preformed within your life. Now I don't know about you, but I can't count them all. GOD has maneuvered all kinds of things within my life and to even begin to try and count them would be a waste of time. Kind of like counting to a million, you know its a lot, so why even try! Needless to say, it most likely has been far more then you can really imagine, but the point is, have you thanked HIM for them?
Now point 2: Ok, you remember all that GOD has done, well a good number of them and your in need of something again. So you start to pray, asking HIM to provide for your needs. There's inherently nothing wrong with this, matter of fact, we are told to ask for those things that we needed. But how often do your prayers turn into "pity parties?" 'Oh FATHER GOD, this and that has gone wrong', 'billy bob did such and such to me,' 'I just can't go on like this.' I could go on, but I think you know them, maybe too well.
How often do you pray and do nothing but thank GOD for all that HE's done? How often do you pray and acknowledge how great HE is? How often have you prayed and just thanked HIM and then sat there and waited for an answer? Now these are three questions which I was blessed to learn the importance of from the very beginning. When GOD opened my eyes to the redemptive works of JESUS, I was in jail, facing a long sentence. Seeing no future ahead, because I wouldn't be a free man until my late sixties or seventies. But the LORD blessed me with finding a book on the power of praising GOD. It was this little book that GOD used to finally get my attention (looking at 35+ yrs. helped too.) Ever since though, I've always kept praise and thanksgivings to GOD first and foremost within my prayer life and not just my prayers, I praise HIM for everything, and all the time too!!!
To seek after GOD's KINGDOM and HIS righteousness really isn't that hard. It really just placing your focus on GOD's WORD and those principles HE's laid down for you in the scriptures. That means you need to really begin to read your Bible, not just let it sit on the coffee table and collect dust, but truly seeking out everything you can about GOD!!! Pray first, doing so in a humble and contrite spirit, thanking HIM for all that HE is, has done and will do within your life. Ask HIM for the HOLY SPIRIT to lead you and guide you in your reading, plus that HE grant you wisdom and understanding from that which you read. Then thank HIM for all that HE is about to do within your life by HIS giving these things so graciously. Now, after your done reading, don't just get up and go about your daily routine. Take a moment and think deeply about what GOD has just revealed to you, take it to heart and then, put it to action within your life!!!
Other reading: Matt. 19:29; Luke 12:29-34; Psalms 37:4, 105:1-5; Duet. 4:29; 2 Ch. 15:2; Heb. 11:6
Use these verses, but don't stop with them, cross reference and seek out GOD from within HIS WORD!!!

Praise the LORD!!!
I pray all are well today and that the LORD is truly moving within your life.
1 Peter 3:15
15 "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,"
Have you ever done something within your walk for CHRIST, that you thought may of been a deterrent to the spreading of the GOSPEL? I other words, something that would make your credibility as a Christian come under the scrutiny of others. Not something that would out right speak volumes as to the validity of your walk, such as crimes or moral lapses, but something that could be considered just a bit far fetched, or out of the ordinary. This has happened to me with the announcement of the fact that VCM will operate on the lines of the 1st century church and not that of modern churches. Right away, people began thinking about the fact that in the early church, the saints sold everything that they owned and gave it to the cause of spreading the GOSPEL. Though I've mentioned this in the announcements, it truly isn't the picture of what I was talking about. That which I'm speaking of is the fact that during this time, the saints had but one purpose in their lives and that was to serve JESUS to the fullest no matter what it took to do so!!!
In today's verse this exact thing is seen, just from a bit of a differing point of view. We're to set CHRIST apart in our lives, so that others can see a remarkable difference in all that we do. We tend to go through life with a hope that is far different then that of other people, for while we're facing trials and tribulations, we can still manage to have joy and hope shining forth. This is something that is totally lacking in the present day church to a great extent. People today, tend to allow all the weight of the world to come to bare upon their shoulders and present this as an "oh I'm a suffering Christian" type of attitude. More of a pity me because of my faith ordeal, and this is far from what our verse today has laid hold of.
Why has this happened to so many within the church today? Probably because so many have lost sight of their "first love," and all that living a life for HIM entails. Life today in the church, has grown more into a school of life and how to succeed in the world through biblical principles. We have sermons on every aspect of life there is, marriage, finances, dating, divorce, you name it and it's most likely being preached in a church somewhere next Sunday. Seldom will one hear a sermon bearing directly on CHRIST and our need for HIM within our lives, let alone one every single week of the year. No longer is our focus on JESUS, but it seems to be only on all that HE can do for us, instead of how we can share HIM with the rest of the world. Christians have taken on the forms of the world, no longer focusing on JESUS, but only on self.
This is what set the early church apart from the rest of the world! Their lives were filled with an abundance of love for others and in all that they did, they did it in a manor so much different than the rest. They had a hope, that was so visible to others, that it manifested itself to everyone, in everything that they did. When I was working on the gulf coast after the 05 hurricanes, every once in a great while this could be seen. I'd run into a person wading knee deep in mud and they'd have a smile on their face. I could tell right away that they were a fellow Christian and one that focused their daily hope on JESUS and all HE's done within their lives and they were showing this fact. Then there were times when I'd run into groups of Christians working and it'd be no different then working amongst any group of non-believers. Cussing, complaining about this or that, all sorts of talk that was the farthest thing from JESUS you could imagine. The worst part of this fact, was that I'd find out that they belonged to some big denomination and had come there as part of a massive move to mobilize their church members and put a show on for others to see. Most of these spent their time away from the work area, in air conditioned buildings, traveling around in tour buses and in general were very short term.
These that I've just mentioned, are not the one's that VCM wants working for us. We want the first example group. Those that will wade through the muck and mire, smiling and singing. Swatting at mosquitoes the size of air planes and laughing about it. These are those that truly have a hope within them. These are those that have set aside CHRIST within their hearts and these are those that will truly give their all, going to the extreme to show the love CHRIST has for a of mankind, through their actions, no matter what the conditions they're putting up with.
This may seem more like a blog for the ministry, than a devotional. But I'm sure that if you look hard enough, you're find that which convicts your heart of a need for some changes within your life. Something that draws your attention to your daily walk with the LORD, and a need to alter things a bit. Our lives as Christians, is supposed to reflect JESUS, not just part of the time, but all the time. Can you say that this is the way your walk is truly, and all the time? If not, then there is room for improvement. I sure hope that no one says that their walk is spotless before GOD, because I'd have to tell you, you're wrong! For there is only ONE WHO's walk was this way and HIS name is JESUS!!!

2.21.10_Matt.13:24-30_Wheat and tares
Praise the LORD!!!
Today's verse came to me this morning, but nothing along with it. Sometimes this is how the LORD will work with me. HE allows me to think on somethings all day, before revealing what the lesson from it is. Today, was one of these.
Matt. 13:24-30
Many times as Christians, we will sow good seed into a person's life and not see any results from it. We may continue to try planting again and again, when truly we should remember that it is the LORD's work to bring forth the fruit from the grain. There are many in this world that are just to stiff necked and prideful to receive the GOSPEL right off. There is truly not a thing we can do about it either. For we are each responsible for our own personal choice. No one but our selves and the LORD has any say over the outcome either. Though HE won't force any of us to make the choice, HE will work to influence us.
We can attend church our whole lives, sitting in the pews amongst a field full of ripened grain, yet we're a tare in our being. There are people out there that have sat in this spot for most of their lives too.Never having made the choice to accept JESUS into to their own lives. They think because they've gone to church their whole lives that they're saved. It's not because they've not heard sermons on the true ways to salvation, but because their hearts have not been prepared to receive the seed. This is an act that only the HOLY SPIRIT can preform and no one else. GOD has set a time for each person to come to the point within their lives where the HOLY SPIRIT will begin to condition the soil and prepare it to receive the seed. Sometimes the seed may of been planted ten to twenty years back, yet it has sat there ungerminated for all this time. We can't explain the workings of GOD, for our understanding is so far beneath HIS. All we can do is that which we're led to and pray for the best.
I know, I myself had gone to church almost weekly until I was twelve and not at anytime received JESUS as LORD and SAVIOR. It wasn't that I didn't know HIM or know of HIS workings within my life, it was that the soil of my heart wasn't ready for the seed to sprout and take shape. It wasn't until I was in my fortieth year that the LORD had allowed my life to take the shape that HE wanted it to, that I was brought to my knees. When this happened, I was totally broken, my heart was crushed and the seed was brought forth as a new born plant. One that has grown and thrived ever since, not that there weren't times of back sliding, but for the most part it was onward and upward. I had been a tare in the garden and not even known it and truthful, I wasn't even thinking about the LORD for the most part. I was bound to live my life the way I felt was best and the hell with what anyone else thought. Sound familiar to anyone?
Each one of us is either a grain or a tare in someone's walk with the LORD. Many times what we see though is not what we've planted, it seems more like a garden full of tares. We will truly never know the full results of our lives as Christians until the great day of judgment. When the harvesters go forth with sickle in hand and begin to gather all that has grown. Either it be of the wheat or the tares, none but the LORD knows for certain. I've been amazed to hear big name preachers or ministries speak about the numbers that their efforts have brought forth. When in all rights, though the field was sown with good seed, not all that they saw was true grains. Some may of been insincere in their confession, others may of done it just for show. While there were those whom wholeheartedly made the choice, there will also be the tare mixed in. To brag over numbers is of the flesh and this world, not of GOD. To even worry about how many 'thousands' were at the service is wrong and of the human part of us. What any Christian should worry about, from preacher to laymen, is that they've done their personal best to plant the right seed and left the rest up to GOD!!!

Use these verses, but don't stop with them, cross reference and seek out GOD from within HIS WORD!!!
You may notice that not all these verses relate to these verses or the writings, I never said they would, just that you might read them and use them as study material. I got you to read a little more of your Bible also now didn't I :)

Matt. 13:24-30
24 Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. 25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away. 26 When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew.
27 “The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’
“ ‘Should we pull out the weeds?’ they asked.
29 “ ‘No,’ he replied, ‘you’ll uproot the wheat if you do. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’ ”(NIV)Many times as Christians, we will sow good seed into a person's life and not see any results from it. 06-30-10_Luke 22:40_Fall not into temptation...
Praise the LORD!!!
***Due to Tropical storm(at this time) Alex I had a lot of work to take care of, so this will be a re post of an earlier devotional. With working two jobs plus the ministry it is hard to concentrate on writing a devotional. LORD willing something will change, allowing me the time to properly write a devotional that will bring glory to HIS name. as they should!***
With the events of the last twenty four hours, the LORD has led me to an interesting verse. Much can be garnered from this single verse.
Luke 22:40
"On reaching the place, HE said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation."
This takes place in the garden, just prior to JESUS' arrest and HE is speaking to those that have walked with HIM for nearly three and a half years. These, you may expect to be seasoned warriors by now, yet our LORD has to warn them of the troubles ahead. This warning should be well heeded even today, by the newest of CHRISTIANS, right down to the most seasoned. To many times we allow our years of following JESUS to kind of veil our eyes from the truth. For no matter how experienced one is, they can still fall prey to the schemes of the adversary. For he has had a much longer time to practice up on the ways of man and how to snare them in their weakness'. This warning should be heeded especially by the babes in CHRIST, because for some reason our newest converts aren't receiving the proper "food" for this task and way too many are falling by the wayside.
With the events of the last twenty four hours, I can see this well. For there are many out there today, preaching false doctrines and making them sound scriptural. If a Christian isn't well versed in the Bible and the foundational doctrines of the faith, they can easily fall victim to these teachers. There are some of these that are even running main stream mega churches! Yes, you heard me right, there are some that are being accepted by seasoned Christian as if every word that comes from their mouths is the truth. When in fact only a part of what they're preaching is truly scripture and the rest has been twisted to maintain a veil over the eyes of the followers. It is amazing how they can do this and get away with it. They've people in the congregation with more years of following CHRIST then they(the preacher) are old. Yet they still manage to preach things that are totally outside of any form close to biblical.
A good amount of this is that which is known as a "feel good gospel." The true GOSPEL message isn't that which will make you feel good about your life, unless you're following it perfectly. It will rend your heart if there is even the slightest discrepancy within one's walk. This is exactly what it was intended to do, to convict us of our true need of a SAVIOR and HIS power through us to make the needed changes within our life. Any truly good GOSPEL sermon will have people crying out in repentance asking the LORD for forgiveness and the strength to overcome the lack within their walks. To many times we have services that only tickle the ears of the congregation, making them feel good about all that they've done during the week. When in all rights, they've committed sins all week long and just kind of brushed them off as minor. How can we be seeking after GOD's holiness and righteousness if we're knowingly sinning and just brushing it off as minor? A plain and simple truth, we can't!
This is where the adversary has gained great strength within the very churches that we attend. Our sermon's no longer cut to the quick, dividing the soul and the spirit. Thus this allows those that can manipulate scripture to step in and take advantage of the sheep, turning them into the goats, that will not be known by their SHEPHERD. How is this happening in a day and age of computers, where there is so much information available to everyone and almost instantly? A very simple question to answer! It is because to many times we don't use that which we have available to us. We're lax and allow our selves to fall into temptation. Temptation doesn't just come in the form of sinning, but can, and does take the form of not using all that GOD has made available for you to use. Many times we'll say "we just don't have the time" or "we don't have the programs," to search out this information. This my friends is a cop out. There is twenty four hours in a day and the time it takes a search engine to come up with too many answers to count is remarkable. Plus there are so many sites out there, that have some awesome Bible study programs, on site to use for free. It is just the matter of our taking the time to put these wonders of technology to work for us. We have to make the choice to get up from out of in front of the TV or video game(or whatever your poison) and put it into that which can make a major difference within our lives. How will you feel, if after many years of walking as a Christian, that when you stand in front of the LORD and answer for your life, that HE says "I do not know you."?
Now I'm sure I've probably got some of you a bit hot. GOOD! Because it is just maybe what it will take to stir you to action, to get you up from in front of the tube and open your Bibles or fire up the computer to seek out the truth for yourself!!! Each and everyone of us is responsible for our own walk with the LORD. If anyone of us takes the word of someone else for being the absolute truth, without out checking it out according to the Bible, the outcome is only in our hands. It won't do anyone any good to tell the LORD on judgment day, " well that's what pastor Jones taught us," or "that is what they preached on TV." For there is no excuse for being lax when it comes to your personal relationship with the LORD and remember those goats, they were casting out demons, healing the sick and all this, done in HIS name. Not as if they'd never known HIM, but they weren't known by HIM, because of something they'd overlooked within their personal walks.
Now I know this goes beyond what a lot of people have been taught, I know the doctrine and I know the Bible. Personally, I'm not taking the chance that something I've been taught may be just a bit off of the truth. I'm going to seek out every moment that I can, the truths about scripture, by the guidance of the HOLY SPIRIT and the WORD of GOD from HIS Bible. Yes, I'll read other works by GODly writers and I always read from many versions of the Bible. I know that men have made mistakes in the translation of almost ever one of them. I also know that anything that a man has written can be off from that which GOD truly meant to convey. I will fill as much time everyday with the WORD of GOD and prayers for HIS wisdom and knowledge. Then and only then will I truly know that I've done all that I can to make my salvation a sure thing. Now don't get me wrong, these works won't be totally by my hands, for I'll be putting all this into the MASTER's hands, trusting HIM to lead me in the paths of righteousness for HIS names sake!!!
Other verses: There will be none! Why? So you can personally take the time to open your Bible or fire up the computer and do a little Bible study on your own!
Use these verses, but don't stop with them, cross reference and seek out GOD from within HIS WORD!!!
